All apartments are fully equipped, with:-

  • Crockery
  • Cutlery
  • Cooking Utensiles
  • Fresh towels
  • Bed linen
  • Tea Towels
  • Washing Up Liquid
  • Dishwasher Tablets (Not Lakeside)
  • Toilet Rolls

There is no charge for electricity for heating, cooking or lighting.

The heating system in the apartments runs constantly and you can control it in your apartment with a thermostat.

The hot water also runs constantly and you should never run out.

Barbeques of any descrition are not permitted on the terraces or anywhere on the site for safety reason.

Day Sail Boats

We have two 18 ft and one 16 ft Capri Day Sailing Boats. They will take up to 5 persons but some sailing experience is required to take them out. Their use is complimentary for Apartment and Houseboat Guests, subject to availability of boats, staff and weather and at the sole discretion of the management.

Smoking is not permitted on the day sail boats for safety reasons.
Dinghies
A rowing dinghy is provided free of charge to each apartment and houseboat. They are tied up around the Marina and will usually need bailing out if it rains. This is all part of the boating experience.

We expect anyone who uses the row boats to act sensibly and safely. This means wearing buoyancy aids at all times, not standing up in them when away from the jetty, not overloading them (4 persons maximum) and not going out in windy or stormy weather.

They must not be used after dusk.

They are lots of fun and kids will play in them for hours.

Buoyancy Aids

Buoyancy aids are available free of charge to apartment residents during their stay and we recommend that they are worn at all times during boating activities. We even have them for very little and very large people.

We give them out as soon after you arrive so they are available when you want to use them.

Car Parking
There are two designated parking spaces for Camargue and Mistral and one each for Lakeside Studio. If you need more or have visitors please ask us as the car park does get full in the summer season.
Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in any of the Apartments or Balconies, and in the Day Sail Boats and Row Boats.

Pets

Pets are not permitted in our Mistral and Lakeside Apartments; however we are, for a trial period, allowing one well behaved dog in our Camargue Apartment. The dog is to be exercised off the premises and the owners are responsible for it behavior.

Dogs should not be left unattended in the Apartment or allowed to run free on the premisis and owners are responsible for cleaning up after any accidents.

Leisure Club
Leisure Club Membership is available at a local 4 star hotel and spa during your stay. The facilities include a swiming pool, sauna, steam room and well equiped gym plus spa treatments (you may need to book these in advance). Children are welcome at the facility with some minior time restrictions.

This is free of charge to our Guests

How to get here

By Car
We are next to the Car Ferry that crosses Windermere so we are very easy to find as long as you ignore your Sat Nav and follow the directions below:-

  • Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A590 sign posted South Lakes and Kendal. This road becomes the A591 after a short distance but stay on the main duel carriageway. Eventually you will reach a very large oval roundabout. Ignore the sign for Windermere (which is the second exit) and take the first exit which is the B5284 and it is signed to Hawkshead Via Ferry.
  • Stay on this road for about 6 miles til you come to a T-Junction. Then turn left and a quick right down a road called Long Tail Hill. It is signposted to Hawkshead via Ferry.
  • After a few hundred yards you will come to another angled T-Junction turn right. It is signposted to Hawkshead via Ferry.
  • After about 300 yards turn left down the B5285. it is signposted to Hawkshead via Ferry.
  • This is our road and is called Ferry Nab.
  • Drive down the road till you pass a Chandlery on your left called Maiden Marine. There is a big yellow crane outside. About 50 yards further on you will see a blue swinging sign which says Windermere Lake Holidays. Turn in the gate and you are on our car park.

By Train
There is a good train service to Windermere which is either direct or requiring a simple change at Oxenholme. It is a long walk from the Station and we would recommend that you take a Taxi or a Bus. To Bowness or Ferry Nab

Taxis

These are available at Windermere for the short transfer to Mereside for a few pounds alternatively taxis are also available directly from Oxenholme at greater cost.

Shopping

There are a number of local shops in Bowness including a small Tesco Express and a Coop. In Windermere there is a Coop, Sainsbury's and there is an excellent supermarket in Windermere next to the railway station called Booths. There are two butchers in WIndemere and one Bakers in Bowness.

Bowness and Windermere have a wide range of small shops.

Parking is a problem and the only shops with parking are Morrisons who have a small one and Booths which has a large one.

If you are arriving by Train to Windermere Station then you may wish to consider shopping at Booths when you get off the train and then get a Taxi down to Ferry Nab

A wider range of shops and factory outlets are available in Kendal approximately 12 miles away. Ambleside and Keswick are lovely towns to wander about.

Please note that shops in the Area are not 24 hours so if you are arriving late you will need to bring with you all you need for the night.

Weather

The best weather forecast for our location can be found on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/

You need to input our post code LA23 and you get a day by day/ hour by hour forecast. We find it fairly accurate and generally better than forcast.

Arrival

The Apartments are available from 3.00pm on your holiday start day and we like to see all our guests in if possible. However you dont need to feel under presure to get here at 3.00pm. Just let us know when you are planning to get here and we will make arrangements with you to suit.

Departures
We need Guests to vacate their accomodation by 10.00am on the day of departure so that the cleaning team can get in and make it ready for our next Guests.

If there has been a problem with something during your stay then it helps us to know before your departure day so that if we have to get a spare part or replacement we have a chance to do this before the changeover day.

Disabled Access
Our apartments are in an old building with inherent access restriction. Please ask and we will discuss what is best for you. We also have an "Access Statement" for each of the apartments with a link from the respective page, which may help.
